Civil Rights -- Police and Governmental Misconduct
The United States Constitution and federal and state statutes protect your rights in your interactions with the police and other government officials. Dan Perez is an experienced federal litigator in First Amendment cases (protecting the rights of free speech and expression, the right to assembly and the right to religious freedom) and Fourth Amendment cases (protecting the rights to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures, false arrests and malicious prosecutions). Dan also has significant experience litigating federal civil and criminal RICO cases (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act), including RICO claims he has filed against public officials.
Civil Rights -- Employment and Workplace Law
Federal and state laws protect employees' rights. Dan Perez is an experienced attorney in employment matters, having litigated a variety of cases involving workplace discrimination and sexual harassment, hostile work environments, and wrongful terminations. He has also worked as a consultant to businesses and corporations, helping them implement policies, programs and practices to stave off expensive, embarrassing EEOC and other workplace claims.
Civil Rights -- Environmental and Municipal Land Use Law
The Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution and various state and local laws protect property owners in their dealings with government and elected officials, including eminent domain, condemnation, inverse condemnation, and public and private nuisance cases. Dan Perez has successfully represented and consulted with property owners, businesses and community and civic organizations, having worked on a variety of matters involving environmental and municipal land use law.
Criminal Defense -- State and Federal
Dan Perez has acted as trial counsel in a number of serious criminal matters. He has earned hard-fought acquittals in murder, manslaughter, drug possession, weapons possession, assault and other felony cases, as well as misdemeanor cases. In one case, Dan Perez won a "Not Guilty" verdict for a man who was charged with murder for stabbing his wife over 90 times. In another case, he won a complete acquittal in a case in which his client was charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting a New York City police captain in the face. In still other cases, he has brought his skill, experience and judgment to bear and persuaded prosecutors to offer favorable plea bargains to his clients.
Dan Perez is also an accomplished appellate attorney, having perfected dozens of federal and state appeals in New York and New Jersey. He is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits, the U.S. District Courts of the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York, the U.S. District Court of the District of New Jersey, the New Jersey Supreme Court, and the New York Court of Appeals.
Vaccine Law
Dan Perez believes deeply in the right to informed vaccination choices. The Law Offices of Daniel M. Perez is a proud supporter of New Jersey Coalition For Vaccination Choice, and is one of the few attorneys willing to take on the pharmaceutical industry and government in vaccine cases. We are interested in representing students, parents of students and other affected individuals who are being forced by the government to vaccinate against their will.
Unjust Convictions and Wrongful Imprisonments
A tremendous miscarriage of justice occurs when a jury wrongfully convicts an innocent defendant. Dan Perez has represented four men who were wrongfully convicted of crimes they didn't commit. He has recovered over $5 million in compensation in these unjust conviction and wrongful imprisonment cases, and counts these victories as some of his greatest personal and professional achievements. If you believe someone has been unjustly convicted and is serving a sentence of incarceration for a crime he did not commit, contact us immediately.
